Our optical system efficiently focuses light where it’s needed. For the SCL, we offer a number of standard lighting distributions to optimize performance for applications from parks to plazas.

All of our lighting distributions are full cutoff, meaning that they are compliant with dark sky requirements. Measurements are in footcandles.

Lighting Profiles


A lighting profile controls when a light is on and how bright it is through the night. All profiles are based on when the SCL detects dusk and dawn. The time when a light turns off or dims during the night can be set in two ways – the time elapsed from dusk or before dawn (a duration based lighting profile) or at a specific time according to a clock in the light (real-time based lighting profile).

Please note that for real-time based lighting profiles, you will need to set the light’s clock at the time of install with the First Light iOS solar control app.

For all profiles, motion sensing is set to on by default for any users that are using an area outside of peak hours.
