This community project, located along Ridge Lane in Ingleside, San Francisco, is the continuation of a neighborhood transformation we were proud to become involved with back in 2017. A group of dedicated volunteers from the Ingleside community have been realizing their vision of a safer, more usable pedestrian pathway through their neighborhood over the past several years. This latest development features a beautifully-functional new staircase and walkway connecting Caine to San Miguel.

The master design for Ridge Lane was chosen from a number of proposals submitted by students of San Francisco’s Academy of Art University, and executed by talented landscape architect Nahal Sobati and landscape designer Eric Arneson. With safety concerns for pedestrians walking alone at night in the area, a reliable lighting solution was crucial. First Light Technologies’ PLB solar bollards were chosen for this project due to their cost-effectiveness and the design freedom they offer – the path’s rocky terrain would’ve made trenching and wiring an expensive logistical nightmare. The community has plans to continue improving and beautifying Ridge Lane in the years to come.
