In 2014, The City of El Mirage, AZ, and the Flood Control District of Maricopa County celebrated the dedication and official opening of the Lower El Mirage Wash Basin Park.
Maricopa County Flood Control District partnered with the city to design and ultimately build a 24-acre passive park and retention basin in El Mirage.
“The once rough-graded eyesore that had standing water after storms, attracted illegal dumping, and presented a significant nuisance to our community was transformed into a space that not only protects us from flooding but gives us an additional area to enjoy,” said Mayor Lana Mook.
